What's In the Bible? #3: Wanderin' in the Desert Blog Tour

Wanderin’ in the Desert is the third DVD in the What's In the Bible? series, the new DVD series from VeggieTales creator Phil Vischer. You can read my review of the first two episodes here.  This third episode covers Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy.  Kids will learn the difference between ritual rules (which only applied to the Israelites) and ethical rules (which still apply to us today), what a Pentateuch is, what "holy" means, and the reliability of the Bible.  In this DVD, like the previous two in the series, you will find humorous puppet characters, catchy songs, Phil Vischer's talks, flannelgraph fun from the Sunday School lady, and more.  The bonus features include The Robot & The Rabbit (lesson on gentleness), Our Miraculous Universe (about science, scientists, God, and the Bible), The Pentateuch Sing-along, Michael's deleted scenes, and show outtakes.  What I don't like are: Michael, the boy character in the van who talks disrespectfully to his mother and the new character (female stage manager) who is bossy and annoying/disruptive.

I plan to use this DVD series in our homeschool curriculum as a review and supplement to our Bible study.  It's a cool tool that helps make the Bible come alive.  It is engaging, entertaining, and educational.  My kids enjoyed it and got lots out of it.  We all are looking forward to the future DVDs in the series.  For more information about this DVD series, visit http://www.whatsinthebible.com/ .

~ I received a review copy of this DVD from Tyndale House Publishers.

  1. When my children were small I relied on such videos to help me teach the Word of God to them. My husband is much more innovative and he knows the bible so well he use to make coloring books and trivia and all sorts of great things for them to incorporate in their daily lives and using the bible as the guide for it all. I am glad I stopped by to see what is up with Christian videos and kids today. Thanks for sharing. Anne
