Friday's Fave Five #27

It's time for another Friday's Fave Five (hosted by Susanne at Living to Tell the Story).

My Fave Five this week include...
1. I had a great time at the Women's Conference at my church last Saturday.  The theme was "Create in Me a Clean Heart, O God" (Psalm 51:10).  The speaker was Georgene Rice.  She beautifully shared what a pure heart looks like according to God's Word.

2. I set up a page on Facebook called "Living for God".  All brothers and sisters in Christ are invited to join. I would love to see all Christ's followers around the world live radically for Him! To know Him more and to make Him known! Let's help encourage one another to live purposefully for God...to live and love like Jesus! Once you join, please click the discussions tab to participate in our current discussion. 3. Last night, I attended the “Make A Difference Tour 2010” concert from my home (watching the live concert which was held in Texas on my computer).  It was wonderful!   This tour's goal is to make a difference for children by helping to raise up sponsors for 25,000 children through World Vision.  Max Lucado set the goal in honor of his 25th year of publishing in 2010; he is donating 100% of author royalties from all Outlive Your Life products to benefit children and families through World Vision and other ministries of faith-based compassion. Max Lucado along with Michael W. Smith, Third Day, TobyMac, and Jason Gray are part of this tour.  Visit here to see if the tour will be near where you live.

4. Session 1 of Beginnings DVD can be watched here for free.  Eric Hovind presents a case to show that evolution has nothing to do with science.  Both creation and evolution are religions.

5. My family and I are passionately pro-life.  I love what Gianna Jessen shared in these 2 videos (Part I and Part II).  Please take time to watch them.  The message is so powerful and true!

My Thoughts and Review: Outlive Your Life is a wake-up call kind of book that invites readers to put compassion into action and to make an eternal impact that outlives their lives.  The world needs Christians to step up and be Christlike and act like the early Christians in Acts.  God used those ordinary people then to change the world and He still does now.  "You want to live in such a way that the world will be glad you did." (from page 4)    Mr. Lucado helps readers ponder the truth and examples found in the first 12 chapters of Acts.  Outlive Your Life reminds me of Don't Waste Your Life by John Piper, True Religion by Palmer Chinchen, and The Butterfly Effect & The Boy Who Changed the World by Andy Andrews.  They share the same theme:  We are created by God to make a difference in this world.  "For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." (Ephesians 2:10) 

This book is easy to read.  I enjoy reading Max Lucado books.  I've always thought he's a gifted writer but now I also think he could have been a comedian if he wanted to :).  He is funny and yet insightful.  I chose to overlook the imaginative add-ons (to the Biblical account) which is his style.  I really like the questions for discussion and the ideas for action found in the back of the book.  I would recommend this book to others because the message is important and definitely needed in this me&mine culture.

How are you living the one and only unique life that God has given you?  You have a choice to live selfishly for yourself or to live for God and serve Him by serving and helping others, especially those in need.  You are given an opportunity to do something to change what is broken in this world.  What are you waiting for?  Love like Jesus does!!!

My Thoughts and Review:

This is a sweet book about babies born in different coutries/cultures from America, Australia, Africa, Egypt, China, India, Russia, the Amazon rain forest, to the Arctic.  It's beautifully illustrated (by Lin Wang).  All babies are precious gifts from the Lord.  Their lives are celebrated by their families and are so loved by God.

I used to work for World Vision in Thailand and I have seen many struggling children and their families living in poverty. They need our financial help and prayers.
