Robert Pierre Music

My family and I love listening to Christian music. I was given an opportunity to review 4 songs performed by an 18 year old pop Christian musician, Robert Pierre. I had never heard of him before but I like to see young people using their gifts for the Lord. I liked what I read in his bio.

Robert Pierre's Bio:
Robert Pierre is an 18-year-old with a big voice and an even bigger heart; a talented musician and a singer-songwriter who has managed to juggle a music career with his high school honors course work. Robert grew up in a Christian home and knew about Christ all his life, but it wasn't until he was confronted by a teacher in seventh grade that he gave his life to Christ. "He looked at me and asked me one simple question," Robert explained, "He asked, 'If you were to die right now, and were standing at the gates of heaven, and God asked you why He should let you in... what would you say?' And all I could think to answer honestly was that He shouldn't..." The Spirit used that moment to bring Robert to a point of repentance and salvation that changed his life forever. It was at that time that Robert committed his talents to the glory of God alone. Soon,
the Lord began to open doors of opportunity for Robert to minister to people through music. Robert has already released two nationally distributed records, with three singles hitting the Billboard Christian AC Top 50 hit list. In addition to performing at summer festivals, Christian fund raisers, teen camps, youth groups and schools, Robert has toured nationally with the junior high "Believe" Tour, the inaugural "iShine" Tour and the nation’s largest Christian tour "Winter Jam 2010." This last year, he has spent his time writing and recording his third record, titled “I’m All In,” which is representative of Robert’s passion for not only talking about his Christian faith, but living sold out for Christ. The project has been co-written and produced by award winning songwriters and producers Matt Bronleewe and Jason Ingram. Robert not only sings on this aIbum, but wrote on 10 out of 11 songs, played guitar for the recording, and sang back up vocals.

Both my 17 year old daughter and I enjoyed listening to all four songs; we especially love You Hold Me Now and Identity. Robert Pierre has a nice, pleasant voice. His voice reminds me of Down Here's lead singer. All four songs have great lyrics. All of them were written by others, except Identity which has Robert as one of the writers. I am quite pleased with Robert's music and am looking forward to reviewing his full-length CD that will be released later this summer. By the way, Robert is graduating from high school this coming Friday, May 20th. Congratulations, Robert! It's encouraging to see young people reaching out to other young people with the Good News of Jesus Christ. Talking about his CD album, Identity, Robert said, “For generations, my family has been involved with missionaries to build and run Christian orphanages. But it wasn’t until I met thousands of kids right here in America who were truly hurting that I felt a calling for ministry. I want kids to understand that it doesn’t matter who the world tells them to be, it only matters who God says they are. That’s our identity and it’s the motivation behind the CD.” (taken from his Facebook info. page)

Civil War Reenactment

On July 4th, my mother-in-law, my 16 yo daughter, my 11 yo son, and I attended the 20th annual Civil War Reenactment at Willamette Mission State Park.  Approximately 1,000 reenactors demonstrated the living and fighting conditions of the early 1860's.  They were in period dress, living in period camps and recreating the battles of the civil war.  We enjoyed the "Living History" demonstrations in the Union Camp, the Confederate Camp, and the Civilian Camp.  We saw battles with all branches of service (infantry, cavalry, and artillery).  We also listened to the medical demonstration which aimed to help people understand the terrible aftermath of the war that took the lives of over 620,000 American citizens. This event was organized by the Northwest Civil War Council.  Here are some of the photos I took and one of the videos I recorded.

Friday's Fave Five #13

It's time for another Friday's Fave Five (hosted by Susanne at Living to Tell the Story).

My fave five this week include:
1. New microwave.  Our old microwave died from old age after faithfully serving us for many, many years.  We really like our new stainless steel microwave.  We hope this one will last for a long time, too.

2. The Blog Frog.  I finally signed up at the Blog Frog and started the Living for God Community.  If you are a member there, please come join my community :).  I'd love to connect with my readers.

3. Early Mother's Day Gift.  My 16 yo daughter, Alyssa, and my 8 yo son, Isaiah, made me a very cool DVD which they put some photos I've taken of God's creation and some of the family photos together into a slideshow with my husband's background music (one of my husband's hobbies is composing music).  I love it!

4. Bible Bee.  Alyssa enjoys memorizing the Scriptures so she decided to participate in this year's Bible Bee competition.  She will have 3 months to memorize 800 verses.  I plan to do some along with her (just for fun :)).

5. I was so thrilled that Julie Ferwerda, the author of One Million Arrows: Raising Your Children to Change the World, featured Alyssa on her blog.  Please check it out and feel free to leave a comment there to encourage her.

Friday's Fave Five #8

It's time for another Friday's Fave Five (hosted by Susanne at Living to Tell the Story).

My fave five this week include:
1. Great bargains.  We bought a bike for our 11 yo son for $2 and a bagful of nice clothes for $1 at a church's rummage sale. We also got 24 DVDs for $20 at our local Hollywood Video store which was closing down.  After we watch them, we'll trade the ones we don't want to keep on DVD Swap (I mentioned about that last week).

2. Fun family time at Wunderland (an arcade).  On Tuesday, my husband took a day off and spent time with us (so glad we homeschool and can take a day off whenever we want to).  We all had lots of fun and only spent about $15.  My husband was extremely good at one of the games and won us tons of tickets which we traded in for several cool toys (worth more than $15).

3. Simple joys are the best!  My boys can spend hours folding paper airplanes and testing them out.  I enjoyed watching them help each other and I enjoyed trying their planes out, too.  We also love doing Mad Libs (a great tool for teaching parts of speech).  Laughter is guaranteed to follow :).

4. Chili paste with basil leaves (product of Thailand).  Whenever I go to an Asian grocery store, this is the first thing I'm looking for.  It's a staple item for me; it makes everything taste good :).  It reminds me of Thailand (where I was born and raised).

5. My music playlist.  I like to visit my blog because I enjoy listening to the songs on my playlist :).  Right now, I'm listening to You Put This Love in My Heart by Keith Green.  What is your favorite song on your playlist (if you have one)?  If you don't have a playlist, what's your current favorite song (I might want to add it to my playlist :))?

Have a blessed Good Friday and Resurrection Day weekend, everyone!  Jesus paid it all for you and me so that we can spend eternity with God!  He died on that cross to save our souls.  Because He lives, we can face any day, any trials, anything.  We're victorious in Christ! There is no defeat...no despair...no death when we are in Christ.
