Jesus is the Root and the Offspring of David. As God and Creator, He is the Root/the Source. "In that day the Root of Jesse will stand as a banner for the peoples; the nations will rally to Him and His place of rest will be glorious." (Isaiah 11:10) As man, He is the Offspring of David. Jesus calls Himself the "Bright Morning Star". As the morning star ushers in the new day, Jesus brings forth the dawn of grace, hope, and joy, the everlasting kingdom, light, and life. He introduces the day of salvation into the soul. Our Savior, the Bright Morning Star, stands in contrast to this dark world. In Him there's no darkness at all. He dispels the darkness of sin, sorrow, and death. He is the radiance of God's glory (Hebrews 1:3).
Prayer: "Lord, You are the brightest of all stars. With Your Light, chase away the world's darkness and the shadows that linger in my life. Help me to await Your coming with hope and confidence and to long eagerly for the new day that will never end, the day in which Your kingdom will be finally and fully established." (Ann Spangler)
