Jehovah Tsidkenu or Yahweh Tsidkenu: The Lord Our Righteousness.
"'The days are coming,' declares the Lord, 'when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch, a King who will reign wisely and do what is just and right in the land. In His days Judah will be saved and Israel will live in safety. This is the name by which He will be called: The Lord Our Righteous Savior." (Jeremiah 23:5-6) Jesus not only removes our sin and stain but He also gives us His righteousness. It's truly beyond awesome! Jesus says in Matthew 5:20, "For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of Heaven." How do we do that? Our works will never be enough. "All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags; we all shrivel up like a leaf, and like the wind our sins sweep us away." (Isaiah 64:6) Our only hope for righteousness is in Christ. Only Christ's righteousness imputed upon us is able to fulfill God's requirement.
From Rags to Riches
When we put our faith in Jesus Christ and his finished work of redemption at the cross, we go from rags to riches (of God's grace). "In Him (Christ) we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace that He lavished on us....Because of His great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions--it is by grace yo have been saved. And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with Him in the Heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages He might show the incomparable riches of His grace, expressed in His kindness to us in Christ Jesus." (Ephesians 1:7-8a, 2:4-7) As long as we're still breathing, we will struggle with sin in this fallen world. When we repent and rely on the blood of Jesus Christ, He forgives us and covers us with His perfect righteousness.
