Giveaway: $50 Safeway Gift Card

Update: This giveaway is closed.  The winner (randomly chosen) is williamandtessasmama.  Congratulations!
Have you tried Fiber One yogurt yet?  I received a coupon via MyBlogSpark for a free pack.  I chose vanilla flavor.  It tasted better than I expected (personally, I don't like anything with Aspartame--I'm all sugar kind of girl :)).  The texture was smooth.  Fiber One offers a variety of flavors including Strawberry, Peach, Vanilla and Key Lime Pie.  You can find Fiber One yogurt at your local Safeway family of stores including Dominick´s, Tom Thumb, Randalls, Vons, Genuardi´s.

Best-selling author and food expert Lisa Lillien, AKA Hungry Girl, has given her "seal of approval" to the new Fiber One yogurt, the only leading nonfat yogurt with 50 calories and 5 grams of fiber (20 percent of the Recommended Daily Value). It is also a good source of calcium and vitamins A and D, making this a guilt-free and all-around great choice for dieters and those watching their weights. Each cup includes the creamy, delicious taste you expect from Yoplait, and you don´t have to feel guilty about enjoying it.  (see what Hungry Girl thinks about the new yogurt here:http://hungry-girl.com/news/newsdetails.php?isid=1772 !)

Note: Until Tuesday, February 9th, at Safeway, you can purchase two 4-packs of Fiber One yogurt for only $4 .

Giveaway:  Thanks to Safeway and Fiber One, I also received a $50 Safeway gift card.  They also generously offer one of my readers a $50 Safeway gift card.  What a sweet deal!

My husband and I go through the grocery flyers each week to see what is on sale. We write down what might be needed and then search to see what we have in the way of coupons. We also start our shopping on the exterior of the store meaning the fresh items that have the most nutrition for the buck. Staying healthy makes it so that we do not have to go to the doctors so often (therefore saving on medical cost).

Well, I try to maintain a healthy diet but sometimes I don't. :) I do try to eat several fruits daily and eat salads whenever I can. I don't eat much red meat. I do like to eat grilled chicken whenever also! :) I love to clip coupons and match them with sales in the circulars. Thanks for the chance to win this wonderful giveaway!

We try to eat right, exercise and get plenty of sleep at our house. Living frugal means shopping sales with coupons and asking ourselves if this is something we really need or is it something we want.

For Question #1, I try to include lots of fruits and veggies in my diet (and yogurt, of course!) We grow a lot of them ourselves to save money. I also swim several times a week at the gym.

We are trying new recipes from healthy cooking cookbooks.

Also, trying to only have healthy snacks if any at all.

I read a lot actually, but I especially like the poem I Am Debtor from Jan 31.

My wife and I try to watch ads for healthy eating and we do allow plenty of time to pray as this is also needed for a healthy body. We watch for lean meats, veggies and fruit on sale as we are both on Social Security and we want our money to go as far as possible.

When my husband was diagnosed with diabetes about 8 years ago we got a crash course in eating healthy!! One thing we found is that the recipes you find in diabetic cookbooks and recipe sites are almost identical to the kinds you find in Mediterranean cuisine. This suits us just fine since we love that sort of cooking. It also makes you take time to cook from scratch as much as possible using fresh fruits and veggies so you know exactly what is or is not in your food. Having a garden in the summer and trying to keep pots of fresh herbs around the house year round helps too. Also, cutting way back on the starches--I actually had to modify the diet the dietitian wrote for him because even she put in way too much starch for our liking, and ramp up the fruits and veggies intake and she approved it when I showed her our preference. Also we learned how conditioned we are by fast food to think supersize is how much food we actually need but watching your portion size, i.e. a 3 oz. piece of meat is 1 serving which she told us is about the size and thickness of an average person's palm. Controlling the snack urge and only snack at designated times, once in the morning and once in the afternoon if you have to instead of grazing all day at random. Most of the advice was just about eating the way we all really SHOULD eat but don't so it really hasn't been all that hard for the kids and I to adjust to eating the same way he does so it doesn't create extra work or temptation to partake of something he shouldn't.

I buy seeds to grow my own garden. To me, it is affordable yet healthy. My family enjoys planting flowers and vegetables together. It's a great activity for my family to get together and accomplish something fun and meaningful.

To stay healthy, we shop the perimeter of the store where the freshest items are found. We also sign up for newsletters from our favorite stores because they often have great offers.

I try to maintain a healthy and frugal lifestyle by eating lots of fresh fruits + veggies, and by using coupons on products I normally buy, and buying them when I can match a store sale + a coupon!
