"I tell you this so that no one may deceive you by fine-sounding arguments. For though I am absent from you in body, I am present with you in spirit and delight to see how disciplined you are and how firm your faith in Christ is." Colossians 2:4-5- Paul warned the Colossians because he didn't want them to be deceived by enticing words/persuasive reasoning. Gnosticism is a heresy that emphasizes philosophy and knowledge. Paul was stating his purpose for his preceding message.
- Paul was not present with the Colossians physically but he was present with them in spirit because believers are one in the Lord...one in the Spirit.
- Paul appealed to the Colossians to return to the Christ-centered Gospel. He was filled with joy to see their disciplined lives and their steadfast faith in Christ.
